Interview with experts:
1) Dr. Chodosh, March 27th
(NYU Langone Health, NYU Aging Incubator)
NYU Aging Incubator is a platform, not a service organization. It emphasizes on research, and to promote research and education opportunities. There isn't a direct relationship with the elderly communities or aging centers, but the relationship is through academic research. However, within the Aging Incubator, some individuals/faculty (for example Senem and Dr. Chodosh, they are health professionals in service for years) may have some personal resources with the elderly, and they can help me reach out to them.
2) Dr. Wu, Apr 6th
(NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing, NYU Aging Incubator)
Notes: There are senior centers in Manhattan Chinatown, who can also fill out the questionnaire. Think about some questions like: Do you use internet often? Tech-savy? Be specific: touch screen on what? Usage: Improve social connections? Improve mood? Maybe explore more about music therapy - easier to implement. Music therapy helps them remember their young age & decrease loneliness, feel better & connected. Ask them: If you're lonely, does music help? what about reading/paintings/nature? Always remember, tech is just a tool to help you achieve things. Content first, tech is the delivery of content.
Interview with elders:
Had casual conversations with 4 elders that are around me, including my grandparents. Planning to schedule some future interviews or conduct a survey to test more on the technologies and existing products - using the resource from NYU Aging Incubator (they are partner with aging centers and have close relationships with the elderly community). I need to compile a list of relevant, interesting products that I plan to test with the elderly.
